Designing & art:
This is an example of a response that you might give. It's good to be as thorough as possible in responses as that has a tendency to improve trust overall.
Your coordinator is a great resource to help you design merch! Our standard agreement includes up to two hours per month of design work by DFTBA artists free of charge. Additional design work will be billed at $175/hour (reformatting designs, brainstorming ideas, submitting designs to manufacturers, etc. are still free of charge).
Of course! We are happy to work with your designers. Before the start of a project we will need to determine if you will be paying the designer directly, or if you will be splitting your royalties with them to be paid by DFTBA. If we are splitting royalties we can not launch a project until we have a W9 and payment information for your designer.
We can! We have worked with hundreds of designers over the years. You can find a selection of our favorites here, along with general pricing info and turnaround time. If none of these designers are what you’re looking for we are happy to reach out to our other contacts. Just send over some ideas of what you’re looking for to your coordinator.
Manufacturing:
DFTBA vets each manufacturer we use to be sure they are in line with our values, and with our quality standards. We start with a one on one conversation, then request factory certifications. Sedex certifications whenever available. If a manufacturer is unable to provide certifications, or specifics about their factories we will not move forward with production.
Manufacturing timelines are dependent on the product. Check out our Product Guide for rough guidelines. You can get a more accurate quote from your coordinator.
Of course! We are happy to work with your manufacturer directly, or to have you send merch you source to us. You can connect your coordinator with the manufacturer via email, or fill out the “Sending Merch to DFTBA” form at this link if you’re planning to ship directly to us.
Fill out the “Sending Merch to DFTBA” form here! This will notify our inventory and receiving teams of the incoming shipment and allow us to check it in in a timely manner.
Website:
To an extent. We use a custom Shopify theme that allows each creator to add their own header image and bio to their page. We can also adjust the order products appear and add custom bundles of your products. Learn more here.
Product images default to an image of the merch on a white background, but we are happy to use custom images.
Yes! We have two options for putting your merch on your own website.
- Shopify has a great tool called Buy Button which allows you to add a snippet of code to your site which will show a collection of your merch. Customers will be able to shop on your site, add items to their cart, and view details. When they click “buy now” they will be rerouted to the DFTBA checkout for purchase.
- If your sales are above 100K per year a White Label site might be right for you. This requires having your own Shopify site which we would connect to our fulfillment software. You are responsible for collecting sales and remitting taxes and DFTBA invoices for our fee. We still cover customer service, sourcing, design and fulfillment. If you are interested, talk to your Coordinator for more information.
- Pre-Order: In order to be sure we never over or under order, we like to start new products as pre-orders. This means we will put merch up for sale for 1-2 weeks and accept orders. At the end of that period we will purchase either the exact number of pieces that were ordered, or order on a bell curve based on those sale.
- Back Order: If an item sells out we have the option to allow it to sell into the negative. This means customers can purchase it while the next order comes in, and their entire order will ship when the reorder arrives.
- Limited Time: Limited time sale means we will put a product up for a specific period of time. We do Limited time sales as pre-orders and place the order after the designated order by date has passed.
- Limited Quantity: Just like it sounds, we order a specific number of items and stop sales after they are sold out.
- Evergreen: This means a product will stay on the site indefinitely. The creator can choose to have it automatically re-ordered or we can ask about reorders when we get close to out of stock. We often to Evergreen products as Direct To Garment unless it is a non-apparel item, or sales are constantly high.
- Direct to Garment/Print on Demand: These items are printed individually at the time of an order. Currently we offer Print on Demand options for mugs and apparel. Mugs are printed in our warehouse and apparel is printed with our DTG partner in Redmond Washington.
- Back In Stock: We use an app called Back in Stock to allow customers to sign up for email notification when items are sold out. They are then emailed whenever the item is restocked. This shows up automatically on all DFTBA products and can be easily added on White Label stores.
This is an example of a response that you might give. It's good to be as thorough as possible in responses as that has a tendency to improve trust overall.
customer service:
DFTBA handles all of your Customer Service for you. If a customer reaches out to you directly you can direct them to hello@dftba.com and we will handle everything.
If items are damaged in transit to the warehouse we file a claim with the manufacturer and receive a reprint or a refund for any damaged items.
If items are damaged in transit to the customer we offer the customer a reshipment or a full refund including shipping.
We work very hard to build in plenty of time to all preorder for merchandise to arrive at our warehouse. We like to under promise and over deliver when it comes to getting your customers their products.
In the event an item is delayed and won’t arrive in time for the shipping deadline we contact each customer to let them know of the delay and an estimated timeline for fulfillment. Any customer requesting one receives a full refund.
